Norwalk is located in Fairfield County, CT, 45 minutes outside of New York City in what is called the “Gold Coast” area of the state. The area is highly competitive & is sure to keep any reporter on their toes The ideal candidate should have a journalism background, with a degree in journalism or a related field. An applicant must demonstrate good news judgment, language skills and accuracy; be organized and work independently. This person must be able to multi-task, balancing the demands of breaking news, the Web and general reporting duties. The successful applicant will be proficient at general assignment work, hard news and features. Education coverage will be the primary responsibility. Preferably, a candidate will have weekly and daily newspaper experience but a motivated candidate straight from college should not shy from applying. Spanish speaking skills are a plus but not required. The successful candidate will manage The Hour's web presence, bridging the gap between the newsroom, marketing and the tech departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong news judgment, communication, and writing and editing skills, maturity, versatility and technical proficiency with content management systems and other online tools. The Hour is looking for someone who is passionate about online journalism and can collaborate with others to produce excellent online content and drive traffic. This is a fast- paced position best suited for candidates who thrive on tight deadlines. The Web Producer will be responsible for supporting the existing infrastructure as well as developing new technologies. Must have experience and knowledge of Content Management Systems and Database software. Previous newspaper website experience is a plus. Experience in HTML, Ad Delivery Systems and Google Analytics is a plus but not required.
