Splash Car Wash collecting for Food Bank

Staff Reports

WILTON -- Splash Car Wash is doing its part to help out during the recession.

Splash, which has nine locations in Fairfield County including Wilton and Norwalk, announced recently it will be asking its customers for donations for The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County for the entire month of April. Customers can bring in non-perishable food items to any of the Splash locations in Fairfield County. Every customer making a donation will receive a $1 discount on their car wash at Splash.

The Food Bank distributes more than 100,000 pounds of food every month to about 100 agencies and programs located in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk and Stamford.

"We are now dealing with all classes, no longer just the working poor, but middle class people, such as those who have lost their jobs, have exhausted their unemployment benefits, and have no income," Kate Lombardo, executive director of The Food Bank, said. "Those who were once donors now find themselves on pantry lines waiting for a bag of groceries."

Mark Curtis, CEO of Splash, added: "We are only too happy to help this great cause during this time of need.

"All of us know someone who has been affected by the downturn in the economy and could use the help provided by The Food Bank."
