Body pulled from Saugatuck River in Westport

WESTPORT A lifeless body was pulled from the Saugatuck River Wednesday morning according to police. A Westport resident, who did not want to be identified, said she was walking on a path besides the river when she witnessed two police boats pulling a lifeless body from the river. “They put it in a yellow bag and zipped it up,” she said. The woman said she was walking on path near Assumption Church at 93 Riverside Ave. when she witnessed the police activity. Police confirmed that a body had been pulled from the River just before 11 a.m. There is no further information on the identity of the person that was pulled or how they got there. Police are investigating. The Saugatuck River flows from Wataba Lake approximately 4 miles southwest of Danbury near the New York border and runs out to the Long Island Sound. - MORE DETAILS TO BE POSTED -
