Babchak earns bronze medal at US Rowing Youth Nationals




CINCINNATI -- The 2009 US Rowing Youth National Championships was held June 12-14, at Harsha Lake outside of Cincinnati.

Crews must qualify for a Youth National Championship bid by attending a recognized qualification regatta and placing in one of the 18 Youth National Championship events.

Wilton High School rower, Natasha Babchak, a junior at Wilton High School, rowing for Maritime Rowing Club, finished third in the Women's Varsity Youth Lightweight 8+ final, bringing home the US Rowing National Championship Bronze Medal with a time of 07:07:53.

Six crews from the US competed in the finals of this event.

First place gold went to Los Gatos Rowing Club (Los Gatos, Califorrnia) with a time of 06:59:58 and in second place was Long Beach Junior Crew (Long Beach, California) with a time of 07:03:56.

Maritime Rowing Club Varsity 8 also earned a bronze medal.
