Students from one Wilton family raise funds for Haiti
Posted on 01/28/2010
WILTON -- Students from one Wilton family raised some funds this past weekend for the Haiti earthquake-relief effort. Jack Wilkinson, 13, his brothers -- Oliver,11, Max, 7, and Thomas, 4 -- and Sarah Gray, 20, their cousin visiting from England, raised $243.34 on Saturday morning outside the Middlebrook School gym. The group prepared and sold hot chocolate and baked cookies and muffins, and sold ready-made donuts, muffins, chips, lollipops and water to encourage athletes and siblings leaving the basketball court to stop by and make a small purchase for the cause. Jack, who initiated the idea, was expected to present Middlebrook School -- where he attends -- with a check sometime this week, which will to go Westport-based Save the Children and its ongoing relief efforts in Haiti.
