Non-narcotic relief available for chronic pain sufferers

STAMFORD

Dr. C. Evers Whyte, medical director at The Center For Health Renewal in Stamford, has seen patients who had suffered from chronic pain for several years leave his office jubilant and pain-free after having completed a series of MediCalm Pain Relief Therapy treatments, according to a news release. The center is at 30 Myano Lane, Suite 26.

"MediCalm," Whyte said, "is a safe, effective, non-invasive solution for patients suffering with severe pain, including oncologic and neuropathic pain resistant to morphine and other harmful narcotic painkillers. It's also a good way to avoid narcotics all together."

The revolutionary device behind all the excitement is the Calmare MC-5A that takes a biophysical rather than biochemical approach to treating debilitating pain that just doesn't seem to quit.

"It has received its FDA clearance, and the remarkable science behind it is truly pioneering. Its results are equally extraordinary," Whyte said.

Using leads attached to the patient's body near the areas of pain , the device communicates multiple "no-pain" signals through the nervous system, effectively "scrambling" the pain information transmitted to the brain by way of "nociceptive C-fibers" (pain nerves). This creates not only a "no-pain message" to the brain, but also stimulates new neurons that are able to sustain the no-pain message long after the treatment is over.

Results can be clear, immediate, and in some cases, miraculous.

Although this treatment is new to the U.S., its usage is solidly grounded in years of intensive research, clinical trials, and extensive FDA review.

It has been in use in Europe for several years and is currently providing thousands of patients with safe, effective ongoing pain relief while avoiding harmful, and even potentially fatal, adverse side effects and addictive properties linked to narcotic painkillers.

While Calmare Therapy is being used by other private practice physicians, pain centers and at major universities including Virginia Commonwealth University's Massey Cancer Center, the University of Wisconsin's Cancer Center and the University of Miami Pain Management Center, The Center For Health Renewal is the only practice currently contracted to use the device in the state of Connecticut.

Whyte said, "While it's valuable to understand what MediCalm Therapy is, it's just as important to understand what it is not," and goes on to explain that it is not traction, electrical simulation, TENS, manipulation, acupuncture, hypnosis, biofeedback, or any other type of pain relief treatment currently offered.

"Each of those types of treatments has its place, but none works directly on the nerves to retrain them and create this type of relief without chemicals or invasive measures."

An initial consultation with Whyte will determine if MediCalm Pain Relief Therapy is appropriate for a patient. It includes a physical evaluation, review of one's medical history and a trial session on the MediCalm device, enough for one to know immediately how well it will work.

The Calmare Mc-5A was initially invented to reduce pain in cancer patients.

But as the machine was being used, doctors and researchers soon discovered it was effective for several other types of chronic pain conditions including:

* Post-surgical neuropathic pain

* Sciatic and lumbar pain

* Lower back pain

* Neck pain

* Failed back surgery syndrome

* Phantom limb pain

* Pain from all types of cancers

* Chemotherapy induced neuropathy

* Carpal tunnel syndrome

* Shingles (post-herpetic neuropathy)

* Pudendal neuropathy (gynecological pain)

* Brachial plexus neuropathy

MediCalm is not designed to take the place of necessary repairs of injuries that cause acute pain. Whyte said, "If you are in need of back surgery, MediCalm Therapy won't repair that herniated disc.

However, if after surgery and rehabilitation you're still in pain, it can help reduce or even eliminate the rest of your back pain and get you functioning much better."

"At the Center For Health Renewal, we're all about helping people get their vitality and their lives back," said Michele Russell, the Center's Director of Operations. "Relieving chronic pain is one way we achieve that."

And while most patients being treated for cancer-related pain go on to live active, healthy lives, Russell said the Center is very sensitive to the needs of patients facing end-of-life issues that usually involve intense pain.

"No one wants to spend their last months, weeks or days in agony, or so drugged that they are unable to have meaningful communications with their loved ones," Russell said. "MediCalm is very effective in these circumstances."

"The bottom line is this," said Whyte. "Chronic pain can truly ruin people's lives. We want them to know there's a new and exciting way to safely get it back."

The website provides an in-depth "Frequently Asked Questions" page, an article explaining what causes chronic pain and why the Calmare device counteracts it, information on treatment costs and special discounts and much more. There are also comprehensive, published medical studies that describe the science and success of the device.

...strongly suggest anyone reading this article and considering using the device to do some research into the inventor -- Dr. Marineo -- and the alleged science behind it...I think most physicians would agree that this is nothing more than a "quack" medical device...on his website, Dr. Marineo -- who, not surprisingly, works alone -- also has other devices he claims can reverse aging, remove scars, cure cirrhosis, etc...all of his miracle cures are "substantiated" by meaningless, scientific sounding rigamarole...consult your family physician before plunking down any hard earned dollars...or at least ask for a money back guarantee if not satisfied...

Professor Giuseppe Marineo is a well renowned researcher and bioengineer affiliated with Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy. The positive results of the Calmare MC-5A are well researched by numerous scientific and medical experts, the documentation of which is available on many web sites.
A study done by Massey Cancer Center showed such remarkable results that it was chosen for presentation at the 2010 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting this past June and has been accepted for publication in a soon to be published issue of “Pain and Symptom Management.”
As result for that meeting, a wave of major medical centers across the country are incorporating this device into do their practices and conducting their own studies, with the same impressive results. Validation of the device’s ability is clear and growing.
Mr. Staub seems to be very actively denouncing this device all across the internet, using outright false quotes and statements. But we do agree with him on one point, do your research. We are not afraid of that. In fact we embrace the idea of patients being informed and empowered. Doctors who use this device to relieve patients’ pain do so because of actual, scientific research, and while we are insulted by insinuations of “quackery,” we realize it often takes time for some people to feel comfortable with new ideas.
New patients are always given an initial treatment to feel the results for themselves before they “plunk down hard earned dollars.” To us, this is ultimate way to complete your research.
