Sabino's summer of success

Staff Report WILTON -- Wilton High junior Heather Sabino spent her summer trekking back and forth to Stratford -- not to mention through much of New England and other parts of the country -- as a member of the Stratford Breakers U-16 softball team. The team finished its summer season with a 22-12-3 record In was the Polar Crush College Showcase 18-U Bracket winner in Devens, Mass.; placed runner up at the Swansea XTreme Tournament in Rhode Island; and was third the Knights of Columbus Tournament in New York. The team also qualified for 16U PONY 2010 National Tournament, Akron, Ohio, where it laced ninth out of 43 teams entered. The team also qalified for 18-U NSA World Series, Chattanooga, TN. Sabino, who plays shortstop at Wilton, was a big part of that success as she hit .323 on the summer along with 11 walks, giving her an on-base percentage of .421. She also laid down six successful sacrifice bunts, two of which went for RBIs. In the field, she had a fielding percentage of .962.
