Conn. voter turnout 'spotty' on primary morning
Posted on 08/10/2010
HARTFORD (AP) -- The morning turnout for Connecticut's primary election is reported to be high in some places and low in others as voters choose candidates for governor, U.S. Senate and various state and local races. Av Harris, a spokesman for the secretary of the state's office, describes Tuesday morning's turnout as "spotty." Harris also says there have been some minor problems, including ballot scanning machines being delivered 30 minutes late in Stamford, concerns about running of out ballots in Shelton and a polling place in Hartford opening late. The polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. Voters must be registered with one of the two major parties and show proper ID to cast ballots. Primary winners will appear on the Nov. 2 general election ballot.
