Voter turnout low so far in Wilton
Posted on 08/10/2010
By KARA O'CONNOR Villager Staff Writer WILTON -- Voter turnout in Wilton was still fairly low as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, said Joan Starr, Wilton's deputy registrar. Starr said that only 11.6 percent of the town's 7,211 registered voters have cast their vote in Tuesday's primary elections as of 2 p.m. "Only 837 people have voted so far," said Starr. "We expect primary elections to have a lower turnout than other elections, but 11.6 percent isn't high at all." Starr said she expects more people will come out later in the day. "It's still early," she said.
