Voter turnout nears 20 percent

WILTON-- As of 5 p.m., voter turnout has slightly increased in Wilton, according to Wilton's deputy registrar, Joan Starr.

Starr said that 19.1 percent of the town's 7,211 registered voters have cast their vote in Tuesday's primary elections as of 5 p.m.

"About 1,382 people have voted in town," said Starr. "We still have some time so we will see who else comes out."

According to Starr, there hasn't been any problems with the optical scanner machines at any of the three polling locations in Wilton.

"Everything is going pretty smoothly and we are looking for a smooth closing as well," said Starr.
