WILTON -- Trackside Teen Center has added an energetic, interesting and bright staff member to its team, says Mark Ketley, Trackside's executive director.

On Monday, Aug. 9, Brett Beatty, a recent graduate of Gordon College, was welcomed as the new program director at Trackside.

"Brett is someone that comes highly recommended," said Ketley. "He has a terrific family background, double majored and brings a lot of qualities to the table."

Beatty, who received degrees in sociology as well as recreation and leisure studies, said he has a lot of experience working with kids. While in college, he spent many hours at the Boys and Girls Club, and during the summers, worked at Camp Playland of New Canaan. Beatty also devoted his time as a "big brother" to a family with two boys, ages 9 and 13.

"I like working with kids," said Beatty. "I'm very excited about this job -- it's a neat experience being so involved with young people all day."

Ketley said Beatty is a very hard worker and will bring a lot of new ideas to the programs at Trackside.

"Brett is very bright and most importantly can relate to kids as well as the school's administration," said Ketley. "Brett has a lot of different interests in many different areas. I am confident he will be a great program director."

Currently, both Beatty and Ketley are working on developing a new strategy for this fall's programs at Trackside, said the executive director.

"Brett and I are starting to gear up for the upcoming school year," said Ketley. "We are thinking of new program ideas that will hopefully interest the kids."

Beatty said he is looking forward to being a part of the Trackside team.

"I am very excited to be the new program director at Trackside," said Beatty. "I am going to focus on getting to know the kids first and see what kind of programs they want -- then see what new activities will work best in the next couple of months."
