Historical Society features works of early 20th century artists

Through July 15, "Four Wilton Artists, Remembered," an exhibition of the work of four major New York and Paris trained artists who lived in Wilton in the early decades of the 20th century, will be featured in a comprehensive exhibit at the Wilton Heritage Museum, located at 224 Danbury Road in Wilton. The exhibit hours are: Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Sculptors Solon H. Borglum (1868 – 1922) and A. Phimister Proctor (1860 – 1950) will be represented by major pieces on loan from museums and family members. The works of painters Henry G. Thomson (1850 – 1937) and Carl Schmitt (1889 – 1989) will encompass impressionistic landscapes, portraits and still-lifes. Lions Club carnival this weekend

The Georgetown Lions Club will hold its annual spring carnival at the Gilbert & Bennett School from May 7-10. The carnival will run Friday, May 9, from 6 to 11 p.m.; and Saturday, May 10, from 3 to 10 p.m. Wrist bands, which allow unlimited rides for the day, will be sold on each day for $20. All of the Lions' profits go to charity. The Gilbert & Bennett School is in north Wilton at the intersection of Routes 7 and 107. Turn right on New Street for parking.

Wilton Garden Club holds

annual plant sale on May 9-10

The Wilton Garden Club's annual plant sale will take place on Friday, May 9 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gazebo on the Town Green in Wilton Center, rain or shine. It will feature: Heirloom plants, annuals, perennials, herbs, wildflowers, orchids, vegetables, creative baskets, hanging baskets and rock garden plants of all types; as well as grasses, groundcovers and shrubs. This year the club is also adding a tree section and a "Connoisseurs Corner."

Our Lady of Fatima golf tournament scheduled for May 12

Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton is hosting its 7th annual golf tournament on Monday, May 12 at Shorehaven Country Club.While participants golf, they can enjoy the views of Long Island sound. The event will include lunch, open bar, a filet mignon/raw bar dinner, a golf shirt,golf balls and a hat for $295. All proceeds will benefit Our Lady of Fatima School. Registration opens for

Hope Church's

vacation Bible school

This summer, from Aug. 11-15, children entering kindergarten through seventh grade are welcome to join the Hope Church's vacation Bible school, called "Outrigger Adventure." The program is free of charge and open to everyone. The program, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day, will have kids creating crafts, playing games at "Recreation Reef," and listening to music. Snacks will be available. The kids will also learn about and discuss the Bible Each day concludes with a group session in the sanctuary finishing at noon. Parents are welcome. To register, visit www.hopechurchwilton.org.
