Pops in the Park features Stamford Symphony Pops, Barbara Cook

STAMFORD — Stamford Downtown Special Services (DSS) has recently announced the summer lineup for Pops in the Park, a concert series taking place on three Wednesdays this July in Columbus Park at 6:30 p.m.

The free, three-week long series, presented by Seaboard Properties on the Heineken Stage, will include performances by the Stamford Symphony Pops, Barbara Cook. It will also feature Bowzer's Rock 'n' Roll Party starring Bowzer and The Stingrays.

Pops in the Park's opening performance will be on Wednesday, July 16, when the Stamford Symphony Pops conducted by Music Director Eckart Preu will show the lighter side of Stamford's professional orchestra. The group will celebrate music written by John Williams, Henry Mancini, Glen Miller and more.

Barbara Cook, described as "Broadway's favorite ingénue," will bring her soprano voice to the Pops in the Park stage on Wednesday, July 23. Cook has sung before audiences around the world for more than 50 years.

Pops in the Park will feature Bowzers Rock 'n' Roll Party on Wednesday, July 30, starring Bowzer and The Stingrays, Jay Siegel and The Tokens, and special guest Lynn DiMenna. Jon Bauman's portrayal of the gangly greaser "Bowzer," leader of "Sha Na Na" for fourteen years, has resurfaced, bringing forth a multi-dimensional performance in his Rock 'n' Roll Party.
