McFadden selected as a presidential elector
By FRANK MacEACHERN
WILTON Wilton's Deborah McFadden was selected as a presidential elector by delegates at the Connecticut State Democratic convention Saturday in New Britain.
She was one of a slate of seven candidates presented to the convention. There are no other nominations.
"I'm really thrilled to have this position," said McFadden Sunday. She attempted to become an elector in 2004 but failed to win a position.
Connecticut has seven votes in the Electoral College. The Democrats and Republicans each nominate seven electors. The electors of the party of the presidential candidate who wins Connecticut in November meet in Hartford after the election to cast their votes for that candidate.
