WILTON A Wilton businessman's application to have his property rezoned from residential to general business is all but dead after planning and zoning commission members said Monday they weren't comfortable with rezoning it as general business.
However, the commission members did keep open the possibility for Sam Sadegi to make another application to have his properties at 261 and 265 Danbury Road rezoned at a slightly more restrictive business zoning.
After the meeting, Sadegi said he will try again.
The commission members will vote on his original application at their next meeting on May 27.
A general business designation allows the property to be zoned for larger businesses, such as restaurants, which serve both town residents and those of neighboring communities. The design retail business designation limits development to smaller businesses which would serve town residents.
Residents at the Crowne Pond development across Danbury Road from Sadegi opposed his application because of concerns about traffic safety. They feared more traffic entering an exiting on to an already heavily traveled Danbury Road.
