PAWS to raise funds through online auction at month's end

On May 31, the Pet Animal Welfare Society [PAWS] will kickoff its first online auction to raise funds to support the programs and services provided to homeless animals and low-income pet owners in the community.

The auction will run for four weeks, through June 28, and will include a Breitling men's watch, brunch at the Roger Sherman Inn, spa services, Carolee jewelry, a New York fishing trip, Jazzercise classes, an in-home wine tasting, signed books, designer handbags, signed art prints and much, much more.

PAWS partnered with cMarket.com to host the fundraiser. cMarket has built a custom site for PAWS at www.pawsofct.cmarket.com. There is something for everyone and every pocketbook with items ranging from signed copies of pet books starting at $8, to gift certificates to local businesses ranging from $70 to a $2,500 men's Breitling watch with a starting bid of $400. You can also help PAWS by donating new, easily-shipped items to the auction.

The goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000 during the auction duration and we can only achieve that goal with your help. With nothing more than a few clicks of your mouse and you can give hope to a homeless animal where before there was nothing but hunger, fear and pain.

PAWS is a non-profit animal shelter dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless and abused pets. All proceeds from the event will be used to provide food, medical care and shelter to pets while they await placement in their new homes. For more information about the event or PAWS in general, visit www.pawsct.org; call 750-9572 ext. 137; or e-mail ilona@pawsct.org.
