Kiwanis to host Roast Beef Dinner

WILTON — It's a sure sign of spring when the Kiwanis Club of Wilton holds its Annual Roast Beef Dinner.

This year the event will take place on Thursday, April 24, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. It will once again be located at the Our Lady of Fatima School, 225 Danbury Road. Reservations are not necessary. All proceeds from the fund-raiser will be re-distributed to various charitable organizations in town. The Wilton Kiwanis Club donates over $40,000 a year to those in need.

Over 400 people are expected to attend this year's beef feast, which started over 30 years ago.

"It's a good idea to get tickets early," says co-chair of the event Ralph Webber, "because the event grows more popular with each year."

Maryanne Wilson Catering Services will once again provide the food. Tickets for the dinner are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under, and may be purchased from any member of Kiwanis or at the door the night of the event. This year, for the very first time, the Kiwanis Club is offering a discounted price of $14 for adults (only) if tickets are purchased online at www.wiltonkiwanis.org.

The dinner includes roast beef (or roasted chicken, if you prefer), beef gravy, salad, a medley of vegetables, browned potatoes, dinner rolls and a large selection of desserts. Coffee, tea, soda and bottled water will also be served.

Some 30 or so Kiwanis Club volunteers will be serving the dinners, assisted by members of the Wilton High School Key Club, which is a group sponsored by the Wilton Kiwanis organization. The Wilton Stop & Shop will be donating assorted refreshments. For more details about the Annual Roast Beef Dinner call 834-0308 or visit the Kiwanis Web site at www.wiltonkiwanis.org.
