Special Events





* Saturday, May 17 — Moonlight in the Garden, a fundraiser for the Wilton Library, 6 p.m. The event will include music, cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions. Reservations are required. Call Anne Rowlands at 762-3950 ext. 216 for tickets and details.

* Saturday, May 17 — Wilton Library will be closing at 2:30 p.m. in preparation for the Moonlight in the Garden gala.

* Sunday, May 18 — Hot & Cool: Jazz at the Brubeck Room , The Brubeck Brothers Quartet, from 4 to 6 p.m. An exciting jazz group featuring two members of one of America's most accomplished musical families, Dan Brubeck (drums,) and Chris Brubeck (bass & trombone). Guitarist Mike DeMicco, and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet. A reception follows the performance. The event is funded by the William and Karen Tell Foundation with special thanks to Ed and Catherine Romer. Advance registration is strongly recommended and pre-registrants must arrive by 3:50 p.m. to be guaranteed seating. After 3:50 p.m., and if space available, wait-listed and walk-in registrants will be admitted. Suggested donation: $10 per person. To register: www.wiltonlibrary.org/events.

* Sunday and Monday, May 25 and May 26 — the library is closed for Memorial Day observance.

* Through Thursday, May 29 — Wilton Schools Fine and Performing Arts Exhibit. The exhibit features over 400 works from students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

* Monday, May 19 through Wednesday, May 21 — Spring Story Times are Monday through Wednesdays for children ages 1 – 6 years, various days and times. There is no charge for this program. Advance registration is recommended. To register visit www.wiltonlibrary.org/events.

* Tuesday, May 20 — hands-on computer classes: Intermediate Excel, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants learn to format a spreadsheet and create graphs. Basic computer skills, including mouse proficiency, required. There's no charge for the program. Advance registration is required. The class is limited to 10 students. Participants are asked to arrive on time. Students will not be allowed in 10 minutes after the start of class. To register: www.wiltonlibrary.org/events.

* Tuesday, May 20 — David Sanders: The Benefits of Using Native Plants in Suburban Gardens and Landscapes, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sanders will present an informative lecture on using native plants to combat weeds and other pests, permitting a reduction in the use of fertilizer and pesticides. * Saturday, May 24 — Fairy Doll Workshop, from 2 to 4 p.m. Children will create their own fairy dolls with expert instruction and guidance from Children's Services Assistant Lesley Keogh. There's no charge for the program. No reservations are required.

* Tuesday, May 27 — Senior Center book discussion at 11 a.m. Wilton Library staffer Barbara Jones will be joined by Seema Saksena, also a library staff member and a native of Calcutta, India, in the discussion of "The Space Between Us" by Thrity Umrigar.
